Guidelines for presenters
Papers
The conference will run in a single stream with all papers presented in the
main conference auditorium. Each session will have a session chair, and
presenters are asked to meet up with their session chair 10 minutes before
their session starts so that the chair knows the presenters are present and
can pass on any last minute information to them. See the
final programme to find out who your session chair
is.
We will be providing a laptop running Microsoft Windows (2000 or XP -
contact us if you think it makes a difference to you) and powerpoint,
connected to a data projector (beamer). It is also possible for you to use
your own laptop, or an overhead projector with transparencies, but the
sessions will run more smoothly if you can use the conference equipment. To do
this you will need to provide your presentation on a CD or memory stick.
(You may also email it to us in advance, but please do not rely on this - bring
a CD or slides with you as backup too.)
When you arrive at the conference, we will ask you to confirm your
requirements so that we can make arrangements to check everything out
before your session.
Please contact us as soon as possible if:
- you have requirements not covered by the above, or
- you need more than one display device/screen
We will do our best to accommodate you, but make no promises.
For all technical or other enquiries relating to presentation,
please contact us using the standard INLG04 email address,
Regular papers
The total time allocated for regular papers is 35 minutes, which includes 10
minutes for questions. Your session chair will advise you 5, 2 and 0 minutes
before the end of your 25 minutes speaking time. Please respect the
conference ethos by finishing your presentation promptly when requested.
Student papers
The total time allocated for student papers is 30 minutes, which includes 10
minutes for questions. Your session chair will advise you 5, 2 and 0 minutes
before the end of your 20 minutes speaking time. Please respect the
conference ethos by finishing your presentation promptly when requested.
Posters
Posters will be on display (unattended) throughout the conference, at the back
of, and adjacent to, the main conference auditorium. Poster presenters are
requested to deposit their posters when they register so that they can be
mounted on the display boards by conference staff.
The attended poster session at the conference is from 18.00 to 19.30 on the
evening of the first day, 14th July - the bar will also be open for pre-dinner drinks.
Ideally, your poster should be attended throughout this period, if you
have several people who can attend in shifts. If this is not possible, we ask
that your poster is attended for at least 45 minutes within the session,
allowing you to visit other posters as well.
If you wish to include a demo (on your own laptop) please let us know now.
We can provide power (but not an internet connection) and a table, but will
only do so if you let us know in advance.
Please
remember to collect your posters before you leave the conference, or
they may be disposed of.
As with papers, please address all enquiries to the INLG04 email address
