ITRI SEMINAR Thursday 20th November at 12.00 Automating the Design of Spatial Configurations in User Interfaces Markus Fischer University of Brighton Graphical user interfaces are now the de facto standard for desktop computer systems. Although this means potentially great benefits for the users, the design of such interfaces has become an increasingly complex task for interface developers. Computer-aided user interface design is an attempt to provide valuable support for the developers. In this approach, interfaces are no longer programmed, but modelled and automatically inferred. The talk documents research that investigates in particular the design issues around presentations that typically occur in graphical user interfaces, with the aim to provide the design heuristics as a resource for a computational interface development system.
