This branch of CLUK, hosted by ITRI at the University of Brighton, is a helpdesk for Human Language Technologies (HLT) and academic-industrial liaison, providing information to the Language Technology community in the UK, and to those interested in incorporating Language Technologies in their products.

This site will keep up-to-date with developments that are relevant to HLT and the marketplace, including information from the DTI, the EPSRC, the EC and general Technology Transfer information.

CLUK is a broad-based organization for computational linguists and NLP researchers in the UK, with no theoretical presuppositions except that text is important, difficult and generally a good thing.

The main CLUK site is hosted in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield.

Much of the information provided on this site is taken from the EUROMAP Language Technologies project. This project was an EC funded initiative, which completed its work at the end of April 2003, but which still runs the HLTCentral.org website to report on Human Language Technology (HLT) news across Europe.

EUROMAP's large knowledge base of information provided the basis for the final report and benchmarking exercise for HLT across Europe, which is downloadable here.

For an overview of the UK HLT situation, the factfile is available here.
